Celebrate the Holidays Sustainably with Deeply Rooted Landscapes’ Tree Rental Program
The holiday season is a time of warmth, joy, and tradition, but it can also generate a lot of waste. At Deeply Rooted Landscapes, we believe in creating holiday traditions that celebrate the beauty of nature while treading lightly on the planet. That’s why we’re thrilled to offer our Holiday Tree Rental Program—a sustainable way to enjoy a living evergreen tree in your home, with no plastic waste or cut trees left behind.
Why Choose a Living Tree for the Holidays?
Using a living tree instead of an artificial or cut tree is one of the most eco-friendly ways to bring holiday cheer into your home. A living tree doesn’t just look and smell amazing during the holidays—it lives on afterward. Once the celebrations are over, your tree can be planted in your yard to provide habitat for wildlife or returned to us as part of our rental program. This creates a win-win: you enjoy the festive charm of a native evergreen tree, and the tree continues to benefit the environment for years to come.
Living trees also connect us to the natural world during a season when many spend more time indoors. They create lasting memories as you and your family watch them grow, contributing to a healthier, greener future.
How the Tree Rental Program Works
Our rental program is perfect for those who don’t have space to plant an evergreen tree but still want a sustainable option for the holidays. Here’s how it works:
Select Your Tree: Choose from our native evergreen trees, including Eastern White Pine, Eastern Red Cedar, Jack Pine, and White Spruce, ranging from 3 to 6 feet tall. These species are native to the Midwest or Northeast regions of the U.S.
Pay Upfront: You must pay the full price of your tree at the time of rental and sign our rental agreement.
Enjoy Your Tree: During the holidays, bring your tree indoors for up to 7–10 days, following our care instructions to keep it healthy.
Return Your Tree: Bring your tree back to us by December 31st in a healthy, well-cared-for state, and receive a refund for 50% of the tree’s cost.
Once returned, the tree will either find a new home or join our nursery to be rented again for the next holiday season, making this a true zero-waste option.

Tree Care Tips for the Holidays
Caring for a potted tree during the holidays is different from caring for a cut tree. Follow these tips to ensure your tree thrives:
Limit Indoor Time: Trees should only be indoors for 7–10 days.
Transition Periods: Allow your tree to adjust to temperature changes by keeping it in a sheltered area, such as an unheated garage or covered porch, for a few days before bringing it inside or returning it outdoors.
Water Wisely: Treat your tree like a houseplant. Water it only when the soil feels dry, and avoid overwatering.
Placement: Place your tree away from heat vents and windows with direct sunlight to prevent stress.
Plan Ahead for Planting: If you intend to plant your tree, dig the hole before the ground freezes to make post-holiday planting easier. If planting isn’t an option, protect the tree’s roots by placing it in a large pot with extra soil or nestling it in a mulch mound.
